Necronomicon is an all-volunteer convention. No members of Staff are paid anything for their time. We are non-profit, and work hard to bring you a fun convention. To do so, we need lots of help over the weekend. Specifically, we need YOU to work with us.
If you are interested in volunteering ahead of time, then here are a few things you should know:
Volunteers need to buy a membership just like everyone else. If you put
in 10 hours of work over the course of the weekend, you will get your
membership refunded.
You can sign up using an online form on a partner website following
this link. Please read the instruction below for details on using the form
before you link out.
Volunteers that are working will have a paper with the hours they work,
and a place for the department head to sign, showing you worked your
hours. You MUST have this paper to Registration before 4pm Sunday to get
your money refunded.
Read the paragraphs below before clicking on the link at the bottom.
If you wish to sign up ahead of time to work at NECRONOMICON, you may
use the *volunteer page* that is available through our gaming
department's site. The page was set up for gaming initially, so it is
going to look like you are signing up to run games when you first get to
the page but don't let that stop you. Go ahead and register and agree to
the gamemaster rules. You will have to wait to be approved. Check back
later in the day or the next day and you'll most likely be able to get
into the site with your first and last name and password that you
created when you registered. (We had to add an approval step because
people signed up with fake names and we found shifts going wanting
because of some foolish joking around.)
Once you are approved, and the site lets you in, you will be taken to a
page titled Information Entry/ Maintenance. You were here when you
registered. Just go to the bottom and click on "Continue" and you'll be
taken to the Game/Volunteer Display Screen page. There, you can check
off hours you wish to work. This is all you have to do.
If you do not see a department you are interested in listed on the
website, that means that the department head takes care of recruiting
for that department. If you are interested in a department that is not
listed, please look up the department on our "contact" page and send
that person an e-mail to find out if volunteers are needed.
And by the way, special thanks go to Rob Ritchie and Chris Thesing for the great, great program work on those pages!
